Our Staff


Doug Nishida, OD, established his practice inside the Marina del Rey Costco in 1999 and brings over 19 years of clinical experience to our office.  Prior to his current practice, Dr. Nishida served as a clinical teaching associate at the Southern California College of Optometry and was a partner in the Brentwood Eye Care Associates with Craig Kliger, MD.

Dr. Nishida earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his Doctorate degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.  During his training, Dr. Nishida's clinical rotations included the Madigan Army Medical Hospital on Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, the VA outpatient clinic in downtown Los Angeles, and the Colorado Optometric Center in Denver, Colorado.  Dr. Nishida was awarded the Wesley Jessen Contact Lens Achievement Award, the Sunsoft Outstanding Achievement in Contact Lens Award, and a grant from the California Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry for his research in the contact lens field.

Dr. Nishida has written for WebMD and been a presenter at the American Academy of Optometry.  He attends numerous scientific conferences and meetings annually to keep up to date on the latest advances in eye care.  Dr. Nishida is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a distinction achieved by less than 10 percent of optometrists, and is a member of the Los Angeles County Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and Mensa.

In his spare time, Dr. Nishida enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He is an avid sports fan and roots for the Lakers, Dodgers, and Cal Golden Bears.  Dr. Nishida and his wife, Tia, have three daughters.


Julie Oh, OD, joined the practice with years of experience from an ophthalmology practice where she specialized in complex contact lens fittings, LASIK exams and pre/post-op cataract evaluations.  She also served routinely as an on-call doctor for ocular emergencies.

Dr. Oh received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego.  During her sophomore year she was accepted to NYU to study abroad in Paris where she delved into 20th century French art history.  She continued onto her doctorate studies at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry where she graduated with honors.  Dr. Oh’s clinical training included the Fresno VA Hospital, Oakland’s La Clinica Del La Raza, San Diego State University health center, Dr. Claude Valenti’s Vision Development Center and the Lion’s Club, San Diego.

Dr. Oh volunteered in Thailand soon after the Tsunami in 2006 where she worked to provide free eye examinations, glasses and ocular medical attention to those displaced and in need.  She also participates in school career days where she encourages youths to consider a career in health care.

In her free time, Dr. Oh enjoys practicing yoga, attending concerts, visiting museums and traveling with her husband.


Sally Oeung, OD, received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California at San Diego and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.  During her optometric training, Dr. Oeung’s clinical rotations included The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, the VA hospital in Palo Alto, CA, and several other clinical sites specializing in primary care, pediatrics, ocular disease, and specialty contact lenses.  Dr. Oeung also completed an advanced studies program in pediatrics and binocular vision with clinical honors at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA and a specialty contact lens training program at The Vision Care Institute in Jacksonville, FL.

In her spare time, Dr. Oeung enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, volunteering, and traveling.


Dr. Lance McNaughton began his career with a PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  With a passion for patient care, he then went on to complete the degree of Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA.  Following graduation, he moved to Valencia, Spain where he took on positions as an optometric associate doctor at a private clinic in southern Spain and later he served as a faculty member and clinical staff member at Madrid’s Centro Boston de Optometria.  In 2004, he moved to east coast USA where he practiced in several commercial clinical settings before joining Dr. Douglas Nishida & Associates at the Marina del Rey Costco in 2011.   Dr. McNaughton’s professional interests include specialty contact lenses and the pharmacology of ocular therapeutics.


Christine Chien, OD, was born and raised in the Bay Area.  She received her bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology at UC Berkeley during which she went to Nicaragua to provide vision screening and eyeglasses to remote communities.  She received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry where she performed her clinical rotations at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, the U.S. Naval hospital in Okinawa, Japan, and the VA West Los Angeles hospital.  Upon graduation, she pursued a residency at the VA West LA hospital where she received extensive experience in eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.  She is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Los Angeles County Optometric Society.

Dr. Chien enjoys trying new cuisine, traveling, practicing yoga, and volunteering at a homeless shelter for veterans in Los Angeles.
